Whether you want specialization in a certain region or style of cooking, whether you want to work in restaurants, catering, resorts or bakeries. You will also have to decide the kind of degree you want. A diploma or certificate degree takes 1 month to 2 years. An associate degree can take nine months to 2 years for completion, and a bachelor's degree in culinary arts takes 4 years. Some culinary schools also provide culinary programs for a fixed time and tours to some epicurean centres like Italy and France. Also if you are not sure in which area you want to specialize in, some of the culinary schools have some special programs available which lets you test yourself to help you in deciding the right field for you.

You have to find out whether the school's faculties are respected. Do your research on the current graduates from the school like where they are working and look for the awards and prizes won by the school. Another important factor while choosing the culinary school for you is the school's location. If the culinary school is located in a large city, by attending to the programs their, more choices will be available to you for externship and job possibilities after finishing your course. Many reputed culinary schools provide externships in leading hotels and restaurants.
  • Accreditation of the Culinary school- Accreditation of the school means the school's faculty, curriculum and facilities have been found to meet the standards after a proper investigation. Many accrediting organizations of the Education Department review and evaluate the culinary schools. Thus, you have to make sure that the school chosen by you is accredited.
  • Cost of the schools- Many popular culinary schools are very expensive. But these schools may provide scholarships and financial aids to the needy students. So, before going to the school, you have to learn properly about the costs of the programs provided by them and scholarship opportunities available there.
